so in the last 3-4 weeks in southeast asia, we've got "expats and tourists behaving badly" - italian students on a field trip to thailand to 'discover a new culture' wound up yelling condescendingly at Thai people in the train - american and european 'startup school' people kicked out of malaysia (primarily for wanting to set up a 'network state' but also for flouting local immigration rules) - french student in singapore fined for licking straws (and putting them back for others to use) at orange juice vending machines - dutch digital nomads created a firestorm of criticism for running no-indonesians-allowed running club in bali, leading to indonesia kicking them out
