@ElisesWritings@wandering.shop self-publishing also lets you give away things you care about FOR FREE, something that just wouldn't be viable if it had to involve a publisher and a printer.

@ratsnakegames@mastodon.social @ElisesWritings@wandering.shop It also lets you offer things *for sale* that could never be financially viable *for a publishing house* There's a huge difference between a well-written book finding a devoted audience and that same book supporting a wholeass business. Doesn't help that publisher profit expectations shot sky high right about the time profitability per book tanked due to production cost rises.
