Farage may also be doubly screwed and have to contest a second by-election.
As his resignation does not stop the investigation or put an end to any rulings by the Standards Committee.
They would resume the moment he was sworn in again as an MP.
So if the Committee advises the House to suspend him for 10.days or more, the recall petition would still be triggered.

If I were Ed Davey, Zack Polanksi or Andy Burnham, right now I would be begging Carol Vorderman to contest the seat as an independent with an anti-corruption platform, similar to Martin Bell against Neil Hamilton in 1997. And do everything to keep the story of Farage, secondary incomes, and suspected bribes in the spotlight at interviews, Question Time and even by using privilege at every session of Westminster, Holyrood, and the Senedd until the by-election.
