Anyway, as trans men and mascs we should normalize accepting the responsibility to seem safe to women and other queer people. We can discourse forever about how man hating sentiment makes us uncomfortable and how we have no structural power over these groups but the reality is we look and act like men and thats triggering for people vulnerable to patriarchal abuse. Cis men also have to prove their allyship, this is not unique to us, and not transphobia.

@damonology@lgbtqia.space Masculinity carries a lot of harm, and that shows even in queer spaces. That’s why responsibility from those of us read as men matters. Not out of guilt, but because patriarchal trauma shapes how masculinity is perceived. Offering safety is a way to show that manhood can be something different.

@damonology@lgbtqia.space I think part of the resistance from transmascs comes from fearing the loss of belonging as men. Taking responsibility means stepping outside cis norms, and when masculinity is the only space society offers, that feels risky. Sometimes playing along is survival, not denial. It doesn't make it right though.
