I wish this timeline wasn't the steaming pile of greed that it is. #AI could be such an amazing game changer for so many groups of people if the goal of it was to help people instead of to make CEOs rich. Like...imagine if you had a model built specifically around helping people navigate medical insurance claims. Not for the insurance company, for the consumer. It could call on your behalf, wait on hold, communicate what needed to be adjusted or fixed or whatever, and if the model broke down it would say "Hang on, I'm connecting you with my person" and then they'd pull you in. But it would learn from that interaction and the next time it faced that issue, it would handle it autonomously for the next person. I think if that was what AI was bringing to the table, folks would likely support a couple of new data centers. But everyone pretty well understands that AI isn't for us, it's not here to make our lives easier, it's here to make money for a handful of people and that makes the folks who are paying attention really fucking angry.
