my 7-yr-old wants a karaoke machine for her bday!
how do karaoke machines work in the modern age?
notably, we have no TV, only a projector with chromecast.
any recommendations?

@pamelafox@fosstodon.org My folks have what looks like a tall speaker that came with two microphones. They usually connect via Bluetooth to a TV or phone and sing to YouTube karaoke songs they look up. It's pretty convenient and since it'll play anything a device can play, it doesn't lock you in to an app with limited songs or anything.
