Two things can be true: 1. The Dutch destroy things for everyone else (two Dutch people organized a no-Indonesians running club in Bali, like they still rule the place) 2. The Indonesia government is fine over-reacting like it always does Having spent some time there I always felt like the strange balance of ‘expat privilege’ and also actual lack of meaningful ability to put down roots (unless married to a local) made for a very transient life that could shift overnight.
