@douglasvb@m.ai6yr.org The only thing I can think of causing an even remotely analogous in-flight change in aircraft controls is a total hydraulic failure. Up until the 80's it was assumed it couldn't happen with redundant systems of a 3+ engine jet. On United Flight 232 in 1989, it did. The pilots' inventive solution to use differential engine thrust saved more than half the people on board when it should have been uncontrollable & unsurvivable. Technical fixes + simulator training, and it never recurred.
