as a simplified but very real example, one might not want to "be human" after seeing the atrocities perpetuated in the name of humanity

@whitequark@social.treehouse.systems True, but of course, that's the pattern of thought that consistently reproduces said atrocities. And well, call me idealistic, but I think that when you see an atrocity, the first thought should be to *make sure that you aren't about to do the same fucking thing to someone else*
