The deleted part is really a red herring. A sector with a bad address CRC cannot be read at all, deleted or not.
Also the bad data CRC shouldn't be reported either, because the bad address CRC makes the controller not even bother looking for the data field.

So what value of ST1 should we return when we read Sector 96? If only someone had written a handy dandy Floppy Drive Controller reference. oh wait
