Road to Louveciennes, Snow Effect (1874) by Alfred Sisley (1839-1899). Pierre-Auguste Renoir is said to have stated that painted snow should reflect all colors in its surroundings and should thus never be depicted using pure white. Here Alfred Sisley has worked out the forms of the snow-covered landscape with warm shadows of light blue and pink.
