@parismarx@mastodon.online Remember when #ev s we’re going to collapse the grid? We heard that for decades, was enough to stifle progress for a good while. Then came the “artisanal” mining for “rare earths”. People, of a broad political spectrum, actively in the streets protesting #datacenters and it’s getting very little political traction.
Interesting comparison electrification to data centers, especially since who asked for #AI ? We’ve been asking for #cleanenergy since the 70s #fracking

I have experienced former because of unexpected load increase in our neighborhood (due to A/C). A bang, and three days of blackout. A bigger transformer had to be installed. EVs might have done that, but grids upgraded themselves pretty quickly. This guy is warning about generation capacity, and he might be right but, I don't accept gas & coal as solutions. So, listen but do your own research on top.
