British Airways 919 #BAW919 incident on July 6 shows hard lessons from history have been learned. But they're still hard. The computer interface on Airbus planes has pilots pull stick back so computer flies optimal airspeed. When air data fails, the computer goes stupid into direct controls - habitually pulling the stick back pushes the nose up until the plane can't fly (aerodynamic stall). @ikluft@avgeek.social it feels like having the stick do two very different things when it's in two different operating modes maybe isn't the best human factors design decision.
