As England* fast approaches full-on drought, and as water continues to leak from our shitty old mains pipes even faster than it’s evaporating from our inadequate number of reservoirs, and as the local water monopolist sends us yet another unctuous email about how we all have to pull together to save water (and the investment of the French and Canadian pension funds that own it), I ponder once again just how many of this country’s ills are the direct and predictable consequence of Margaret Thatcher’s weird obsession with selling off core national infrastructure.
(* I don’t presume to speak for the other UK nations.)

@hedders@mas.to Almost all modern problems can be traced to Thatcher and Reagan. (Oh and Cymru is in drought conditions nation wide I believe)
