@Veza85UE@eupolicy.social Unfortunately we do not elect our chancellors or ministers - we only elect parties and members of parliament. And even more unfortunate: the outcome is rarely what we wished for. Look at Merz. Incompetent, arrogant, fossil. He'll throw our society back to the fifties. We're trying to stop it, but so far 🤷‍♀️

    @energisch_@troet.cafe I'm not making an argument against the electoral system, I'm quite in favour of not directly electing PMs and for parliamentarianism. Presidentialism is a trash system far too dependant on personality and vibes. But given the last 30 years of German Chancellors who were dogshit for Europe (yes, even Merkel, tho she was by far the least bad) from both the SPD and the CDU (the SPD has a Gazprom lobby wing, ffs!), I'm giving up on Germany. Rule from the imperial centre in DC it is.
