@jaseg@chaos.social the next upgrade is probably going to be early-mid 2030s, whenever I run out of capacity on the storage cluster nodes. They're only pcie gen3 and 48 lanes and as I cram more and more NVMe in it's eventually going to become a bottleneck.
But if M.2 22110 drives bigger than 3.84T, say 7.68T, ever become available at a reasonable price i'll be able to stretch them a lot further because the limitation right now is probably slots/lanes, not bandwidth

@azonenberg@ioc.exchange at these capacities I wonder whether the 200-400 USD for one of those PCIE/m.2 cards that have an onboard PCIE switch might be worth it. Some of them only do 2.0, but I have seen some that advertise 4.0 and above.
