@grumpy4n6@infosec.exchange My grandfather liked the idea of chess, but a chess set was too expensive, so he hand carved a set and glued a magazine cutout onto two pieces of cardboard. I have the pieces in their cigar box and the chess board sitting in my boardgame collection. I have played chess with my kids with using set, and hope that it will one day continue the journey in their hands.

@grumpy4n6@infosec.exchange I have a small plate I nicked from the Cosmopolitan in Vegas from when I ordered cookies and milk from room service. (I used to do things like that.) The plate was too pretty to send back with the tray. To this day, using it reminds me of the upper floor room I had with a perfect view of the Bellagio's fountains.
