During Mitarashi Matsuri a special kind of fortune called 'mizuura-mikuji' (水占みくじ) can be found. Blank paper omikuji (御神籤) are placed onto water...as the water soaks in the fortune is revealed.
Kifune-jinja (貴船神社) is particularly well-known for this style of omikuji.

It's time once more to wade into the soothing waters of the Mitarashi Pond. Dip your feet, light a votive candle, say a prayer to the 'god of purification' at Inoue-sha (井上社), and you will be protected (especially against chilblains and beriberi) for another year💦👣🕯️🙏✨💪
