Regulation of #ebikes is a #racism issue, a #classism issue, a #feminism issue, an #ageism issue, and an #ableism issue.
Policing of all kinds, including motor vehicle operation, is always directed disproportionately at people of color, leading to higher rates of license revocation, suspension, citation of infractions and fines against people of color.

…it can be *the* decisive factor in whether or not someone is able to use a bicycle as transportation, rather than as mere recreation. There is no legitimate moral reason why anyone should be forced to have operable pedals on an ebike, provided that ebike is operated within safe speed limits, which I believe to be up to 50 kmh. Operable pedals are not stable for many disabled people who are perfectly able to operate a two-wheeled vehicle safely, but may not be able to pedal.
