(As ever, "doesn't work" isn't a good argument against AI. I'm not making that argument here. I'm making an observation about what the fact that they don't work tells us about American culture more broadly.)

In the eternal spirit of "AI doesn't cause problems, it exacerbates them," American society already had: • A tech sector that has long been dependent on increasing TDP to achieve growth. • Given up on truth being relevant to mainstream culture. • Failed to address its eugenicist history. • Concentrated decision making power into anti-intellectual and incurious cliques of billionaires. ...and so many other things that AI has accelerated.
