@irix@cloudisland.nz kinda amazed that it has taken this long in “you pay you play” obsessed NZ.
Just as long as the water companies aren’t privatised. The scale of that disaster in the UK is really starting to come home to roost.

@allsumnull@mastodon.cloud I kind of wonder if this is a stepping stone. Split the billing of water from rates and then in the future look at privatising it like other utilities. People are already getting rainwater tanks to deal with dry summers but individualising H2O may drive an uptick in adoption. We just need sewage to be individualised next (pay to pop) and we’ll be back to long-drops 🤣
