@mynameistillian@plush.city i hope someone builds a novice-friendly way to get into self-hosting and infrastructure cuz it sounds more and more enticing as time goes on but it'd be hell to maintain, especially if you don't know how to code

    @ericjames@booping.synth.download @mynameistillian@plush.city Infrastructure and self-hosting doesn't need to be that technically complicated. With our current tech, docker makes things quite easy - usually one config file and one command to start the container. I probably spend an hour per month on average maintaining and updating my server and I have loads of services running. Also, on the other end of the scale, cubans have been running their own internet by throwing cables between buildings by hand. Running a 90's/00's-style internet is technically quite cheap and straightforward I think.
