problem is of course, once again, the difficulty and understanding ceiling. we're talking about ordinary people like me here. it's easy to do that if you're a late 20s linux-loving slicer. try explaining what the fuck is a mesh to your older neighbour who works at a factory all day. and the problem is, you gotta build the infra now, because when the shutdown happens, you won't be able to install shit anymore

@mynameistillian@plush.city So true. Although to be fair I think the older generation has a better understanding of 'low tech' communications and using it during emergencies than the young. They all used to tune in to shortwave radio stations and use telegrams. Some kids now who grew up on ipads and iphones don't know what files are.

@mynameistillian@plush.city i hope someone builds a novice-friendly way to get into self-hosting and infrastructure cuz it sounds more and more enticing as time goes on but it'd be hell to maintain, especially if you don't know how to code
