It costs me the nap I could be taking instead, if I'm honest, and it costs a little of the numbness I have damn well earned the right to want. But goddamn it, I've buried people this news cycle never once apologized for, and I'm still here, still upright, still mean enough and soft enough at the same time to keep doing this at fifty-plus in a body half the South is still betting against.
