@csem_cn@mstdn.social The use case is forensic investigation. I am currently working a case with multiple images that all have duplicate LVM and file system GUIDs because they were all cloned from the same base image. I can mount any single image with no problem. But the minute I go to mount another image, the OS refuses because of duplicate GUIDs.

    @hal_pomeranz@infosec.exchange I understood that so far. But what is the point of mounting the same image with different GUIDs? Why exactly would you mount them inside of the same live system w/o assigning UUID? Volume Groups inside of LVM cannot be accessed concurrently. I am by far no expert on data forensic examination / concurrently mounting via LVM, but this is one of the fundamentals. My guess is assigning UUID manually and rescan, so the LVM groups can be reassigned. Heck, that's in fact mindboggling.
