Tycho on Amazon (as a sidebar in a recent post) is very telling; customer obsession (the legendary first LP) has been almost entirely replaced with customer extraction. “When I was trying to set the family up with the newest David Tennant version of Macbeth, which you should absolutely watch, I saw that Masters of the Universe was included with Prime. And it is, but with commercials, and you can buy a subscription for your subscription to take the ads away. I understand this is old news but virtually every interaction I have with that company outside of buying a digital book has been so ground down, so abraded, that it feels just this side of legally actionable.” https://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2026/07/24/the-leto-protocol

More on #enshittification in that same post: “I have to interact with a variety of vendors in order for you to see these words, and almost every one of them has a degraded fundamental nature that makes them feel indistinguishable from scams. There is a box in the office that has first aid shit, and for months they claimed to be filling it and charging me for it after I cancelled it and they didn't even know where the new office was. I told them about this, and they swore they would talk to another third party about it, and I'm not sure they did because ghosts keep delivering these illusory balms yet sending material invoices.”

@darkuncle@infosec.exchange "A subscription for my subscription". Ouch. Disney+ wanted how much? I think it was $20 for the live-action "Mulan" - on top of my existing Disney+ subscription? Resulting in: cancelled Disney+. I got 99 problems, but subs on subs ain't one.
