@mastodonmigration@mastodon.online @AkaSci@fosstodon.org I doubt that’s true — the booster is the expensive part, and SpaceX seems to be able to build ships rather quickly. Even if the shields require extensive rehabbing, I would guess the system will still be cost effective relative to current alternatives.

@michaelgemar@cosocial.ca @AkaSci@fosstodon.org The booster is expensive, sure. But they have always been able to reuse boosters. The entire premise of Starship is to bring the ship back intact and rapidly reuse it.
