To a centrist, fascism is acceptable if it's not overt fascism. They want deniable plausibility. They want clean, sterile state violence.
The gay neighbors with two kids who attend their church are fine. As long as they don't overtly break too many rules around white gender conformity and cause a PROBLEM in your circles.

The token person of color or two in the PTA or in the lower rungs of your corporate job are OK too. Just as long as it doesn't become a diversity hire situation where you feel that *your* corporate position might be in competition with POC hires.
