i got a crazy idea :ablobfoxbongohyper: so heres the thing: my current desktop doesnt support wifi (i use an ethernet cable thats connected to a wifi extender, with the only purpose of providing internet connection to the desktop) then theres an old laptop i have thats going unused rn: it has a wifi chip which, from repair guides i saw online, found out it's easily replaceable. i know it is supported on linux because i have used it before so my idea: take the wifi chipset from that old unused laptop and put it right inside the desktop :blobfoxuwu:

the crazy idea was a failure :blobfoxsad: the free port where i thought the wifi card might fit is actually slightly wider than the wifi card. and of course every other remaining port was also different from what the wifi card uses and then i thought about using it to upgrade the wifi chipset of the netbook with that (the laptop where that thing comes from is faulty in quite a few ways, so this would be more productive if it worked than putting it back in its original laptop), but that doesnt have the correct port, neither. the wifi chipset of the netbook goes in a wider port, which i think it's an M.2. port or something similar? either ways, this experiment was a failure :blobfoxsad: on the bright side, opening up my pc made me find out that it had a lot of dust. i dont have the tools nor the knowledge to properly clean it up, so i cleaned what i could with paper towels and -specifically for the cpu fan because the gaps are too small- a thin screwdriver (dont worry, i was careful and i didnt break anything). There was a lot of dust i couldnt remove, mostly half of the dust of the cpu fan, but i removed enough to the point that the things that would usually make the cpu fan go loud now go quite a bit less loud, so thats nice :blobfoxthumbsup:
