Seiyō-san's (青洋) latest creation is a beautiful, water lily-inspired sweet called 'sōryō' (爽涼), which simply means 'refreshing cool'.
The slightly watercolour quality of the sweet brings to mind Claude Monet's (1840–1926) 'Water Lilies'.

One of the most unusual sweets I've seen this season again hints at cooling waters, but in a far more obscure way! Shōjuken's (松壽軒) 'jakago' (蛇籠) was inspired by a type of cylindrical bamboo basket that was filled with stones and submerged to control river flow!😮 #和菓子
