there was a nice thread about leonard cohen this week and as i was playing "sisters of mercy" tonight, i thought again about the words of hope, humanity, and sharing in the lyrics.
Oh the sisters of mercy, they are not departed or gone
They were waitin' for me when I thought that I just can't go on
And they brought me their comfort and later they brought me this song
Oh I hope you run into them, you who've been travelling so long.
always good to remember that mercy and comfort can be had and can heal.
If your life is a leaf that the seasons tear off and condemn
They will bind you with love that is graceful and green as a stem.
no matter how much we feel aged or worn, renewal is always possible.
And you won't make me jealous if I hear that they sweetened your night
We weren't lovers like that and besides it would still be all right
it's there for all of us. one of us getting that mercy doesn't take it away from the rest of us.
