Before someone comes at me, yes, I am aware that Amazon is evil. As a narrator, I am hired by authors; they choose where they sell their books and I have no say. I am also paid very little on royalty share contracts. The books are already on Amazon; Amazon Affiliates let me earn literally a few more pennies per sale. Or rather it used to. Now it won't. People ask why I no longer narrate auiobooks. Amazon has unilaterally removed more than 1/3 of my audiobook catalogue without payment to me or the authors, breaking the contracts I was hired through as a narrator. They (i.e., ACX) are unilaterally changing contract terms this year and authors who don't agree will have their audiobooks deleted (narrators have no say). Now this. *shrug* I started narrating in the first months of the pandemic so I could work safely from home. I loved the work, and I love my authors and listeners. But Amazon changes the rules and moves the goalposts all the time. The little guys have no recourse at all. I am no longer taking new audiobook narration work because this field is a nightmare. Pre-Emptive Edit before reply guys find this thread: I am not soliciting and do not want "advice". I will block you if you try. Thank you for reading comprehension, sweeties. 2/n

@AdaraAstin@supervolcano.angryshark.eu that really sucks! I have my products listed on Amazon, but over the last 3 years consciously reduced my sales there and shifted to my webshop. They are just too erratic on what they do and I do not want to depend on Amazon Oh, and doublecheck that the email is real. I get a lot of alarming alarming Amazon emails that look real, but are forged and have malicious links or phone numbers

@AdaraAstin@supervolcano.angryshark.eu I’m sorry. Love the extra fuck-you of not paying out any earnings because you weren’t magically in compliance with an erratic change of rules that has nothing to do with you.

@AdaraAstin@supervolcano.angryshark.eu that is incredibly rough im sorry to hear that. I have amazon affiliate links to help get a little tip for my videos, as mixed on that as I am, but changes theyve made recently are really frustrating and disheartening. Like now I cant seen any transaction details for some reason? Really makes it hard to know what is working and what isnt. I am thankful I have some other sources than just amazon though because I really don't want to be tied to just them. 🙃
