APD chief Lisa Davis claimed that Anthoneil's death was a case of "suicide by police" – a clear deflection of all responsibility of the police officers who pulled the trigger within 20 seconds of arriving to the scene.

Since 2020, APD has tried to rebrand themselves as more progressive or caring. This murderous act demonstrates that was always a lie: they are the same racist killers they have always been. Justice means that we must fearlessly stand up to police and ICE killers and demand they face consequences.
