OMG nowonder my childhood was so screwed up, WHAT DID THEY DO! this starts to explain the jumper block, and why "no, this cable doesn't work, it selects the drive but doesn't turn on the motor" unlike the other one that turns on the motor but doesn't select the drive.

@gloriouscow@oldbytes.space @foone@digipres.club as a kid I learned rules like 'a 3.5" drive wont work unless the cable has a twist' and yea, 5.25" drives were a hit-and-miss of "it works" and "strange problem" hahah, this one also has USB! 🤣 (the things I do for social media)
