@evacide@hachyderm.io gaytabases? That's never a good sign, at least from what I recall of history.

@evacide@hachyderm.io is the EFF considering moving out of the USA? if it was focussed on a US audience only then sure it makes sense to be the USA but since it aims to provide guidance and influence regulation around the world - perhaps it shouldn't be based in the USA but in a more normal place? also people at risk contacting the EFF means their comms go into US jurisdiction and subject to surveillance by arms of the USA state - so for safety shouldn't it outside the USA? educate me if i'm wrong

@evacide@hachyderm.io Why do bars that cater to a demographics that has been targeted by violence, opt to use a system that sells the safety promise a solution "That Protects Your Whole Community". Not too hard to guess why they use this. No, it isn't the right solution, but non-tech-savory straight people fall for this all the time, I am not sure why we should assume that non-tech-savory gay people would not. As with age verification laws, it is a bit... no... very scary... to see EFF being the ones pointing out how this will affect the queer communities, while our own organizations are mostly silent about it. But it is a tech reality that most people do not know quite how to relate to. We obviously have a job to do.
