some days I don't mind my coworker slopping up the codebase, Ive got better things to do than think about The Horrors happening over there; all other days, that code actually interfaces with the rest of the code base and I have to think about how it works. what a brain-dead roadblock to my productivity this merge is turning into today. why is it spending 200 lines making a template class for a set of 4 character string prefix compares. why temp files for in-memory data format conversion. egads.

I could ask them to do it better, but otoh, that will just result in the button to burn a forest down being pushed again, and the slop I am now unfortunately familiar with being replaced with new and exciting slop that also mostly works in new and exciting ways.
