As prove of causality, note international inflation trends from the same Fed report. COVID price spikes were global. Invasion of Iran affected inflation everywhere since we all buy oil. But the tariff spike in Apr 2025 only affected US consumers. (3/2)

Last point (yeah, 4/2). His narcissism is the risk right now. People are turning on him because they understand he's responsible. He's acting ever more erratically because he can't emotionally process the fact that he's not good at his job and everyone knows it.

@SeanCasten@mastodon.social #alttext Figure 43. Consumer price inflation in foreign economies Percent change from year earlier (with a graph that also peaks just after 2022) Note: The advanced foreign economy (AFE) aggregate is the average of Canada, the euro area, Japan, and the U.K., weighted by shares of U.S. non-oil goods imports. The emerging market economy (EME) aggregate is the average of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Israel, Malaysia, Mexico, the Philippines, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam, weighted by shares of U.S. non-oil goods imports. The foreign aggregate is the import-weighted average of all aforementioned economies. The inflation measure is the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices for the euro area and the consumer price index for the other economies.
