  @JessTheUnstill@infosec.exchange I cannot imagine any other use of money in excess of securely meeting my and my family’s needs, with a buffer for plausible contingencies, that would be more appealing than helping others meet their needs. All that stuff the rich find appealing is takes an ethically hollow mind, devoid of conscience, to enjoy. Why the hell would anyone want a pile of sparkly rocks and shiny metal, a bunch of almost always vacant homes, or an enormous vanity project such as a series of rockets built without adequate prior primary science, when one could be the reason an ecosystem is restored, the reason every homeless person within a thousand miles becomes securely housed, or the reason millions of children live who would have died? What these soulless creatures want more than anything else is public adulation, to compensate for their narcissistic void of self-worth. Perhaps if the entirety of the public showed nothing but uniform contempt and disgust for such hoarding, or perhaps apathetic disregard (depending on a particular target’s psychopathology), and gave our attention and approval only for pro-social uses of wealth, we could condition the rich like that class of psychology students who collectively steered their professor by only showing interest when the professor was on the left side of the stage.
