cory doctorow posting a 34 part crash out where he starts with doing a LGTM on the tao chatgpt log (it’s very impressive because he doesn’t understand it, you see) and derails into ranting about the people calling him out for using LLMs while carefully avoiding any of the actual critiques of his LLM use is, well this is just how cognitive surrender looks, unfortunately

yes cory, being able to run a local LLM on powerful hardware for a ridiculously trivial task does make you privileged no cory, one of your technologically illiterate fans thinking your local LLM is phoning home doesn’t count as critique. I can see why you’re still refusing to engage with the obvious systemic issues around local models though. “this is a machine built on theft and intentional ongoing damage to the commons and its use and promotion gives power to the corporations who created it, yes, even the local models, that’s why the corporations tolerate them for now” is the kind of s-s-s-socialist thought that gets you written up at Wired, I’m certain
