I wish there were a way of text messaging where someone could send a message to a group but the replies would go only to the sender, not to the group. I'm glad to get my mother's announcements that she sends to multiple family members, but not everyone else's reactions.

@matt@toot.cafe What platform are you using? WhatsApp has broadcasts for this kind of things, though I haven't used them in ages.

@matt@toot.cafe I feel that. We have an extended family chat and each time someone sends, say, a picture of one of my nieces it blows up my phone for hours with replies and reaction emojis.

@matt@toot.cafe I don't know your family, but that would require people to consistently use it and I think some people legitimately want their reactions seen for some reason. Probably better to have a way you yourself can opt out of notifications for replies to a thing, collapsible threads, and the like.
