@Herefordrob@mindly.social Proportional representation is about *how* we choose governments, not *how much* government we have. You can support PR while favouring anything from a highly decentralized federation to a strong central state. Personally, I support PR because it makes legislatures reflect voters more accurately, regardless of the constitutional model that follows. Citizen assemblies can complement representative democracy, but I wouldn’t replace democratic accountability through elected representatives altogether.

    @BlakeHamiltonCA@mstdn.ca Elected representatives may be accountable and as such are scapegoats for governments which are becoming less and less accountable. This is to my mind a hierarchical domination system, which has along with many other domination systems which are entangled, got us to where we are now.
