The difference between medicine and “alternative medicine” is proof of effectiveness. If something provably works it’s medicine.

That’s certainly a definition. (As a genuine question) How dos that definition account for the placebo effect ? edit: re-read this and realised it sounded significantly more confrontational than i intended, so i added bracket context.
