So two friends also had parents die suddenly, and Pat blew out his Achilles tendon (probably -- we're still waiting for an MRI), and one of my siblings was just in the ICU for three days, so I'm feeling REALLY fragile and mortal. Middle age sucks. Caregiving is also not for the weak. I'm still so thankful that Pat is strong and hasn't lost his sense of humor. This is hard, but it could be a lot harder.

  • @grammargirl@zirk.us I’m sorry. So many things come with middleage, and so few of them good. Why can’t we have the energy we had when we were young to deal with all the crap when we’re older?

@grammargirl@zirk.us My thoughts are with you. I also had my dad suddenly die while I was on the other side of the world. For what it's worth, a licensed grief counselor was the only thing that pulled me out of the hole. And it took many, many months.
