- you show up at stores & ask to get almost dead plants that they're going to throw out, for free. You're going to rescue those almost dead plants.
- you ask to take bouquets from hospitals/LTRs/offices/etc that staff are going to throw out, so you can try propagating from the cut flower stalks.

@PhoenixSerenity@beige.party I was at Costco today and I felt such pity for the landscaping shrubs that I was thinking of coming back with the pruners to clean up the dead branches.
