@artnacrea@mastodon.ie @RobynNuthall@mastodon.nz @ClareBear@mastodon.nz Interestingly the new Hungarian government is proposing a constitutional amendment to limit MPs to three parliamentary terms, which is equivalent to 12 years. That, mostly anyway, sidesteps the age question but achieves much the same thing - stops politicians from having a life-long career of being a politician, which ends up serving no-one but themselves.

@paulh@cloudisland.nz The only problem I see with a 3 term limit is there’s always the possibility of having an exceptional politician having to step down when they still have much more to offer. Particularly in the case of most MPs needing at least 2 terms in parliament before having the experience to run for PM. For example Chloe Swarbrick would not be eligible to run in this election. @artnacrea@mastodon.ie @RobynNuthall@mastodon.nz @ClareBear@mastodon.nz
