RE: https://mastodon.social/@mariejulien/116993216033766296 Okay, this is fucked up. DocuSign is implementing AI to summarize the “essential points” of the agreements people are going to sign using it. As the original post notes, this will be legal carnage. Sooooo very much wrong.

@LeslieBurns@esq.social Oh yeah. That is not going to last. That AI is going to screw up in a major way and it'll be a huge story.

@LeslieBurns@esq.social It's already bad enough that as you navigate the document and initial and sign places, it skips to the next field, skipping over all of the document pieces in between, discouraging actually reading it. I've taken to not touching any field until I've read the document end to end because of this, and it frustrates people waiting on me, especially if it's an in-person thing. With how many lawyers being sanctioned these days for using AI without verifying their work, I'm honestly surprised they're taking this path. Though, I suspect whatever summary is generated will not be saved anywhere associated with the document for future legal defense if it gets something wrong and the signer inadvertently violates the document as a result. As a matter of legal protection, I'd 100% avoid using this function. I wish I could just avoid docusign entirely. @mariejulien@mastodon.social

@LeslieBurns@esq.social May as well go back to DocuSign language scrawled on cave walls.
