and more importantly, only the latter kind survives any kind of bubble intact
when money is the goal, bubbles bursting eliminates the goal. so the people move on to other things to make a quick buck

but the efforts that come from people wanting to make something cool have a tendency to find a way, because money is just the means, and you can find other means. and they have a vision of what they want, so they don't get dragged around by trends
