And frankly even if you don't like chatbots, TPUs have been around as far back as 2009, backing everything from modern weather prediction to video encoding/decoding.
I mean, you might not be gaming on them any time soon, but they will definitely find their use, and you are likely already using every day things that are run on them, even if you don't use chatbots.

I'm talking about the hardware being optimized for fp8, fp4 or just fp2 in some cases. Total garbage except for modeling neutral networks (sans the activation function). And I'm talking about the bonkers rate of depreciation. Locally executed machine learning models? Fine by me if the training isn't setting the planet ablaze & attempts at compensating the diminishing returns by throwing more resources at it.
