I started using it with work gigs where I needed more stuff and most commonly my long ladder, which could be easily attached to it. It however had one original part in it, the bed. And it was ripe.

A local construction supply store sold me a pre-cut piece of weather resistant plywood for it, the same kind that it had originally had. The bed itself had been riveted to the frame, which meant I had to drill it. It came off surprisingly easy. I had intended to use the old bed as a stencil to mark holes into the new one, but it literally disintegrated when I pulled it off. I ended up patching the old holes with anti-rust body filler. This is pretty simple thing once you see the construction. It's below the legal limit to have brakes, so it doesn't even need the annual checkup either here. Thinking back, one of the most incredible things about the original parts was its tires. I always laughed at the "MADE IN USSR" text on them, but damn, they still had air in them in 2024. I'm now holding my breath that the current Chinese ones are as good in 2064.
