It's absolutely wild to me that our society's choices seem to be one of the following, depending almost entirely on which stakeholders offer the best bribes to the President of the United States and his family: 1) US Government-enforced AI moat, forcing all of us to use one of a handful of regime-approved GenAI models hosted behind rent-seeking American hosting companies ruining our environment, while immiserating most of the world's population. 2) Collapse of America's scam-based economy alongside proliferation of free Chinese open weight models that'll kinda sorta get the job done (but don't ask the models what happened in 1989), while immiserating most of the world's population. And no one is considering any third option of maybe not doing any of this. #genai #aislop
